HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Bombers girls blank Chazy, improve to 5-2

LAKE PLACID — Olivia Ferebee scored two goals in the opening half, and it turned out to be the difference Wednesday as the Lake Placid girls soccer team blanked Chazy 2-0.

Ferebee lifted the Blue Bombers to a 1-0 lead on her first tally, which came near the 5-minute mark of the opening half off an assist from Weber Hemsley. Ferebee then buried what proved to the only other goal, scoring with about five minutes left in the first half with Emma Adragna assisting on the play.

Returning from an injury, Brooke Paries played the entire match in goal for Lake Placid. It was the senior’s first game in nets this season.

“We play much better when we score during the first 20 minutes of a game,” said head coach Heather Brewer, whose Blue Bombers improved to 5-2. “We outplayed Chazy in the first half, and I think they turned it around in the second half.”

Brewer said Parries had a solid performance in goal and credited junior Rylee Preston with a strong effort at sweeper.

Lake Placid’s girls next play on the road Friday against Boquet Valley. That match will take place at the Camp Dudley field in Westport starting at 4:30 p.m.
