LAKE PLACID — The High Peaks Cyclery Mini-Tri season wrapped up Monday night with a large crowd and a competitive battle for the overall top finisher position.

Sean Davis, of Lake Placid, built a big lead after recording a swim time of 5 minutes, 52 seconds, then held on to beat last week’s champion, Joe Sullivan, of Schenectady. Davis completed the 12-mile bike course in 32:44 and the 3-mile run in 18:42 for a total time of 57:18 to lock up his third Mini-Tri victory of the season.

Sullivan was forced to play catchup after a swim time of 7:07. He turned in a bike time of 32:14 and a run time of 17:59 for a total of 57:20.

Brooke Kelley was the third overall finisher. She covered the swim course in 5:47, the bike in 33:01 and the run in 21:16 for a total time of 1:00:04.

Will Morris, of Wilmington, wasn’t far behind with a time of 1:00:28 to finish fourth overall.

Erica Iuvara, of Port Washington, was the second female finisher with a time of 1:10:52. Darci LaFave, of Lake Placid, was third in 1:12:52.

Monday’s Mini-Tri was comprised of 29 individual female racers, 34 men and seven teams.

There were a total of 271 racers from 20 different states and four different continents throughout the eight-week Mini-Tri series.

Everett Lamb recorded the fastest overall time of the season when he covered the course in 56:15 on June 17, the first night of the series. The fastest swim time of the season was 5:34, the fastest bike was 30:39 and the top run time was 15:41, according to High Peaks Cyclery’s Facebook page.
