The men’s race came down to a foot race as Jay Niederbuhl, of Saranac Lake, tried to chase down Everett Lamb. Niederbuhl came up just short of the victory, despite turning in the second-fastest run time of the night at 18:48. Lamb finished the swim in 6:05, the bike in 31:14 and the run in 18:56 for a total time of 56:15. Niederbuhl had the fastest bike time with a 31:11 but was unable to make up the difference, finishing with a 56:39 overall.

The fastest swim time of the night came from Brooke Kelley, who entered the first transition after 5:48. She won the overall women’s race with a time of 1:02:47, beating second-place Sayaka Stiessen, of Canada, who finished in 1:04:55. Victoria Lederer, of Canton, was third in 1:05:42.

Elizabeth Izzo (1:05:54) and Keeseville’s Brittany Friedrich (1:06:52) finished second and third in the highly competitive 18- to 29-year-old age group.
