LAKE PLACID — Celebrating 50 years of show jumping in Lake Placid, the 2019 Lake Placid Horse Shows opened Tuesday with a limited schedule of hunter and jumper competition at the North Elba Show Grounds. The Lake Placid Horse Show runs through Sunday and is followed by the I Love New York Horse Show, July 2-7.

The US Equestrian Federation has designated the Lake Placid Horse Shows as a “USEF Heritage Competition,” an honor reserved for an elite group of exceptional shows.

Offering $560,000 prize money, the Lake Placid Horse Shows feature four show rings with more than 100 classes of competition each week. Action begins at 8 a.m. daily and runs until approximately 5 p.m. Each show is USEF Premier rated for hunters and 6* rated for Jumpers.

Admission to the horse show is $2 on weekdays and $5 on weekend days. Children under the age of 12 are admitted free. Discounts are offered for groups of 20 or more. Tickets are available for purchase at the entrance gate. It is not necessary to purchase tickets in advance. There is ample general seating available.
