Red Storm softball falls to Peru

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake softball team lost a close contest at home Saturday, falling 6-4 to Peru in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference play.

The Red Storm clung to a 1-0 edge through three innings until the Indians took the lead for good when they sent four runners across the plate in the top of the fourth to go up 4-1. They tacked on another run in the fifth for a 5-1 advantage, and Saranac Lake answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning to cut its deficit to 5-4.

The Red Storm was shut out from there while Peru scored one more time in its last at-bat to clinch the win. Olivia Bousquet picked up the pitching win for Peru while Morgan Farmer took the loss in the circle for Saranac Lake.

Iris Glinski and Andrea Boon had two hits apiece for Saranac Lake, and Farmer also chipped in a double, which was the only extra-base hit of the game.

AuSable Valley 17, Lake Placid 1

CLINTONVILLE — Lake Placid had a rocky outing Saturday, falling 17-1 on the road to AuSable Valley in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference softball.

The Patriots pounded out 17 hits in the game, with six players registering multiple hits in the game. Hannah Rondeau paced the Patriots at the plate, going 3-for-3 with six RBIs, including a home run.

Faith Fell took the pitching loss for Lake Placid.

BASEBALL

Plattsburgh 14, Lake Placid 0

PLATTSBURGH — The Lake Placid baseball team could only come up with two hits on Saturday as the Blue Bombers fell 14-0 to the Plattsburgh Hornets in CVAC action.

Ben Champagne, Jacob Clark and Andrew Bechard split the pitching duties in the win, Champagne was the starter and tossed four innings to earn the victory on the mound.

Senior Kamm Cassidy smacked a double for the Blue Bombers.

The Hornets finished with 12 hits and no errors.

The Blue Bombers are on the road today against Peru, starting at 4:30 p.m.
