SARANAC LAKE — Six athletes from the United States Ski Team are calling Lake Placid home for the next few days after arriving in the Adirondacks on Tuesday for a training camp that culminates this weekend with two races at Whiteface Mountain in the annual St. Lawrence University Winter Carnival.

The skiers are on the U.S. alpine C team and come from across the country. According to Nick Krause, they are working on the technical aspects of their skiing.

The group is staying at the Olympic Training Center, and on Tuesday evening they decided to step away from their sport and have some fun bowling in Saranac Lake at Romano’s Saranac Lanes.

Krause hails from Northboro, Massachusetts and is one of three east coast skiers who are training in the Adirondacks. Skiers also participating are Sam Morse of Carrabassett Valley, Maine; Drew Duffy of Warren, Vermont; Kipling Weisel of Sun Valley, Idaho; Erick Arvidsson of Woodside, California and River Radamus of Vail, Colorado.

They will race Friday and Saturday in respective giant slalom and slalom events.
