Bomber boys hoops top Orange

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid boys basketball team came from behind on Friday to record its third win of the season with a 50-45 victory over the Indian Lake/Long Lake Orange.

The host Blue Bombers clawed back from an 11-point deficit in the third quarter to tie the score at 45 with 1:30 left in the game. Lake Placid’s Talon Jordon and Jarrett Mihill combined to make five free throws to seal the win.

Seb Cecunjanin recorded 21 points for Lake Placid. Jordon added 10 points, while Owen Hayes had four. Mihill, Caleb Wylie and Colton Kondrat chipped in with two points each.

Griffin Farr paced the Orange with 23 points, including five 3-pointers. Tyler Mack recorded 10 points.

Following Friday’s game, the Blue Bombers picked up a 45-38 victory over Johnsburg/Minerva on Saturday to improve to 4-9 overall.

Lake Placid will take on the Keene Beavers on the road today at 6:30 p.m.

Beekmantown 45, Saranac Lake 41

The Saranac Lake boys basketball team suffered a 45-41 loss to the Beekmantown Eagles on Thursday.

The host Red Storm struggled in the first half, allowing the Eagles to jump to a 30-19 lead at the intermission. While the team closed out the contest by outscoring Beekmantown in the final two quarters, the were unable to mount the comeback.

Saranac Lake’s Caleb Akey led all scorers with 27 points. Mik Denkenberger and Melvin Cirikovic added six points each. Zack Goetz chipped in with two points.

Nathan Parliament paced the Eagles with 16 points, while Josh Sand had nine points. Peyton Viau and Miguel Herrera added six points each.

The Red Storm, which dropped to 6-7 overall, will host the Ticonderoga Sentinels today at 7 p.m.
