Bombers softball falls to Panthers

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid softball team suffered an 18-1 loss to the Crown Point Panthers Friday at the Lake Placid Elementary School.

The Panthers scored five runs in the first inning and held their lead for the remainder of the contest. The Blue Bombers scored their lone run in the bottom of the first.

Crown Point’s Kaitlin Ross, a sophomore, earned the win on the mound, while Lake Placid’s Reid Pedu suffered the pitching loss. Ross also recorded her 300th career strikeout during the game.

McKenna Munson led the Panthers with three hits. Rylee Raferty, Abbigail Lafountain, Julianne Swan and Margaret Benway had two hits each. Crown Point had 14 hits in the contest. Lake Placid’s Abbey Light had a triple in her team’s three hit effort.

The Blue Bombers, which dropped to 2-9 overall, will wrap up the regular season today at home against the Boquet Valley Griffins. The game is slated to start at 4:30 p.m.
