She was a Girl Scout leader for downtown troops for many years. She also was a dedicated supporter of the Wild Center and many charitable foundations. She was an avid reader and knitter (she made hundreds of baby hats for the local hospital maternity ward over the years). She worked as an RN in Millington, Tennessee at the Naval Hospital, Massena Memorial Hospital, the VA hospital (now Sunmount DDSO) in Tupper Lake and Mercy Hospital.

Jeannette was predeceased by her parents, Manuel and Armancia, and her only brother Rene Neves (all of Massena).
