SLP boys hockey, LP girls basketball games postponed

SARANAC LAKE — Two Section VII playoff matchups featuring Tri-Lakes area varsity sports teams were postponed on Thursday.

The two teams included the Saranac Lake Placid boys hockey team and the Lake Placid girls varsity basketball team. Both games have been rescheduled for today. Three other sports events — within Section VII — that were scheduled for Thursday were also postponed.

The SLP boys, which were originally supposed to play the Saranac Central Chiefs at 7 p.m. on Thursday, will now play the Chiefs at 4 p.m. at the Ameri-Can North Sports Center in Plattsburgh.

The winner of the contest will advance to the Section VII Championship on Monday at the Plattsburgh State Field House. SLP last won the Section VII title in March 2020 — the first year the two school districts combined.

The Blue Bombers girls were slated to take on the Chazy Eagles on Thursday in Chazy at 6 p.m. Today’s game will remain in Chazy and will be played at 6 p.m.

In the lone regular season matchup between the two squads, Chazy edged out Lake Placid by a score of 43-42 on Jan. 30.
