LAKE PLACID — Jay Niederbuhl, of Saranac Lake, led from start to finish Monday night to take first place in the High Peaks Cyclery Mini-Triathlon race.

Niederbuhl was the first out of the water, recording a time of 7 minutes, 28 seconds in the 400-yard swim. He then powered through the 12-mile bike with a time of 32:57 and finished strong with a time of 21:27 in the 3-mile run for a total time of 1:01:52. Scott Provost, of Plattsburgh, placed second in 1:04:17 and Randy Kubasiak, of South Wales, was third in 1:04:56.

Sandra Izzo, of Lake Placid, won the women’s race in 1:15:13, followed by Diedre Loftus, of Lake Placid, in 1:16:30 and Kirt Elling, of Lake Placid, in 1:16:53.

The series continues each Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. through Aug. 13. Registration takes place between 5:30 and 6:15 p.m. Cost is $20. For more information, call High Peaks at 518-523-3764 or go to the store’s website or Facebook page.
