Promote Saranac Lake as #decidedlyarts

To the editor:

To the Saranac Lake community:

We are so lucky in Saranac Lake to have a vast variety of arts and cultural offerings. So many people in this village are creating beautiful, interesting things, and the Village of Saranac Lake’s Arts and Culture Advisory Board wants to ensure that people have the opportunity to learn about as many of those things as possible.

The ACAB is seeking to unite our local arts and culture offerings on social media. We’re asking that you, as a member of the Saranac Lake community, start to use a hashtag in all your social media posts about the arts here: #decidedlyarts. If you attend a gallery opening, get down at a concert at the Waterhole or on the Green, or read an excellent book by a local author, share a post about it on social media and include the #decidedlyarts hashtag in your caption.

In case you aren’t familiar, hashtags are a simple phrase written out with no spaces between and preceded by a # symbol. These phrases are used on social media to identify messages on a specific topic. When someone searches the hashtag on a social media platform like Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, all the posts using that hashtag pop up.

So using this unified hashtag, #decidedlyarts, will make finding posts about the arts here easier to find. It will both help visitors find arts offerings as well as help local artists and art appreciators follow and support what’s going on here.

How about it? Will you join us in using the hashtag #decidedlyarts on your social media posts?

The Arts and Culture Advisory Board was launched in 2019 by the village board to make recommendations to the Board of Trustees regarding policies and actions that facilitate implementation of the village’s Arts and Culture Master Plan. The board is made up of seven local members and appreciators of the arts community. Some other initiatives the board is working on include painting lampposts, and coordinating sculptures in public places.

Thanks,

The Arts and Culture Advisory Board:
