Thank you from the Lake Placid Thrift Store and Food Pantry

To the editor:

The Lake Placid Food Pantry and Thrift Store Board would like to thank the Lussi family, community members, volunteers and businesses for supporting our current initiative. We would also like to thank Linda Young, the executive director, for her almost 40 years of volunteer service (and counting!) to these vital community resources. The generosity and kindness of many individuals, organizations, and businesses deeply touch us.

The thrift store was only possible with the Lussi family’s generous donation of our previous space. For over 32 years, they hosted a home for the community to donate and shop, generating much-needed funds to support emergency needs in the community. We also thank the St. Agnes Catholic Church for hosting the food pantry, which has been open to everyone since 1985. We would also like to thank Hannaford Supermarkets, Price Chopper, and the Regional Food Bank Of Northeastern New York for their continued support.

The success of our food pantry and thrift store is a testament to the unwavering dedication and tireless efforts of our volunteers. Their selflessness and commitment to serving others have significantly impacted the lives of countless individuals, and we are immensely grateful for their invaluable contributions. We also want to emphasize that this success would not have been possible without the support of our community members, organizations, and businesses.

We are eagerly looking forward to the future of the Lake Placid Food Pantry and Thrift Store. A new, more accessible location for both the food pantry and thrift store, complete with furniture, is on the horizon. We are fortunate to have the support of many community partners helping us raise the funds to make this dream a reality.

People have always been at the center of our success. Our expansion will deepen long-established relationships and form new ones. Together, we will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Sincerely,

Pastor Jim Koenig, on behalf of the Lake Plaid Food Pantry and Thrift Store Board
