On Stefanik’s push against Columbia University president

To the editor:

We were treated to an odd scene in Congress this week when Elise Stefanik grilled Columbia’s President Minouche Shafik, accusing her of fostering antisemitism on campus and pushing her to resign (see ncpr.com, April 23, 2024).

It’s ironic that the congresswoman would push for Shafik’s resignation when she supports our former president who praised Neo-Nazis chanting anti-Semitic slogans at their demonstration in Charlottsville, Virginia in 2017.

Stefanik did get a lot of press coverage out of her performance, however — seems performance art is what being a congresswoman is all about these days.
