Thanks for helping make masks

To the editor:

We are a bit behind in getting this written.

In March, a family member who is a phlebotomist at Good Samaritan Hospital was in need of protective items. Their lab was receiving an enormous number of samples to process in response to an outbreak of a new coronavirus. They were running out of protective masks.

We knew we could help and got to work making masks for her and fellow workers.

Hearing the extent and gravity of COVID-19, we made and delivered masks locally to some medical offices and businesses. We continue locally providing baskets with masks in several locations. Each week they are replenished. To date, over 4,000 masks have been distributed and are available at no charge to members of our community. Some individuals have donated cash anyway. All those funds have been redistributed to our local food pantry.

We want to thank all those businesses who have accepted our baskets. A special thank-you to the following who have helped in various ways as we accomplish our endeavor: Sue West, Jan Fitzgerald, Mrs. Fitzgerald, Lisa Sciacca, Darlene Figueroa, Sharon Seymour, Susan Crary.

We will continue to provide until the need is gone.

Thank you.
