Don’t delay impeachment for political reasons
To the editor:
Call it OCD if you will; place it in a more apt category in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders if you will, but at some time every day of my life since 2016, I find that I say to myself with something far more morbid than childlike wonder, “Donald Trump — DONALD TRUMP? — is the president of my beloved country, the Yew-Ess-of-Ay?”
Ten — count ’em, 10 — meticulously documented instances of attempted obstruction, and now complete and utter stonewalling; that, too, is an impeachable offense.
I am by no means the first to point out he is a would-be authoritarian, temperamentally, morally and intellectually unfit to be president — add racist to that, please.
That bad bi-coastal liberal press has correctly pointed out that Madison and Hamilton never wrote that impeachment should be delayed for political reasons. Constitutional duty takes precedence — should I say trumps? — political considerations.
Thanks for listening, free press. My highest regards, and you are indispensable to saving the republic.
