To the editor:

I wholeheartedly believe that the people who make their home in the towns of Clifton and Fine are extraordinary. I’ve seen a lot of good here: the creation of a philanthropic fund at the Northern New York Community Foundation to support community projects, the restoration of an old schoolhouse into a community events space, the building of playgrounds, a pavilion, beach improvements, the rebuilding of the famous Wanakena Footbridge, the creation of the Cranberry Lake 50 Hiking Trail, the addition of new paddling access sites on our gorgeous rivers, our Clifton-Fine Hospital is viable and excellent, AND numerous volunteer-run events to attract tourists including a 5/10k on the Fourth of July Weekend, a cardboard boat race, a Poker Paddle, an ice fishing derby? And that’s just what comes to mind immediately.

This year we are again hosting a very special event in our roster of great reasons to come spend time in Cranberry Lake and the surrounding communities. A truly unique, wonderful and well-kept secret is the vibrant arts community that flourishes here in the homes and studios of artists and artisans, whose work reflects the beauty, tranquility and joy of living in the Adirondack hills of southern St Lawrence County.

On Aug. 12 and 13, a vibrant group of “girls just want to have fun” artistic women will launch the SECOND EVER Cranberry Lake Art Show. The show will feature the unique and wonderful work of over 40 amazing artists — and as a special event, we will host Art Live on Saturday from 1 to 3. Ten artists will demonstrate their talents, followed by a two-hour wine and cheese reception (3 to 5 p.m.). Artwork will be for sale during the reception.

The Cranberry Lake Fire Hall Community Room will be filled to overflowing with incredible artists, artisans and artwork — it’s an experience you will want to be a part of. Come join us. WE LOVE COMPANY!
