Watch Sanders debate

To the editor:

As we draw closer to the 2016 election, which will decide who the 45th president of the United States will be, it has never been more critical for voters to be informed as to the qualifications and positions of the candidates.

Domestically and internationally, it is arguably one of the most critical times in recent history with the global economy teetering, terrorists’ threats, millions of refugees seeking asylum and our own country divided on many fronts: race, religion and income, to name a few.

Needless to say, the next election is extremely important on many fronts, and voters must do their homework if they are to elect the best candidate. It is a unique time; never has there been more information and misinformation available. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and a plethora of cable news channels make it incredibly difficult at times to actually sort out what is really going on and to find accurate information about a particular candidate.

To that end, Tupper Lakers for Sanders is hosting a Democratic Debate Watch Party on Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 8 to 11 p.m. at Edmund Bujold Post 3120.

This is the first of six debates the announced candidates will have and should give a good bit of insight as to how each of them is going to proceed. We’ll have light snacks, friendly discussion and watch the debate in the banquet room.

All registered Tri-Lakes Democrats and independents (and friendly Republicans) are invited to join us as the leading candidates discuss the real issues facing our great country and how best to deal with them.

To RSVP, go to berniesanders.com/events, and for more information, email me at gocusetupper@gmail.com.

Respectfully,

Glenn Poirier
