‘Tuck Everlasting’ opening Thursday at Lake Placid Middle-High School
LAKE PLACID – The Lake Placid High School Music Theatre will present “Tuck Everlasting: the Musical” on March 28, 29 and 30 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
Based on the novel by Natalie Babbitt, “Tuck Everlasting” is the story of the Tuck family, who, in 1808 unwittingly drank from a spring in the woods of Treegap, New Hampshire, that made them immortal. The family gathers almost 80 years later in Treegapand Jesse Tuck befriends local girl Winnie Foster. The Tucks are being pursued by an evil carnival director who knows their secret. They must protect Winnie as well as the secret of the spring. Winnie ultimately must choose between a life well lived and a life that never ends.
The show is directed by Kimberly Weems and choreographed by Terpsie Toon, with stage design by Thomas Dodd, costume design by Kent Streed, and lighting design by Bonnie Brewer.
The cast consists of 26 Lake Placid High School students. The folk score will be accompanied by an orchestra of nine local musicians.
Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for students and children.
