LPCA’s free Young & Fun Performance Series continues

LAKE PLACID – The Lake Placid Center for the Arts will present a summer full of arts for all ages.

The series will run every Wednesday through Aug. 8 at 10:30 a.m.

The series kicked off with a special performance in Mid’s Park during Lake Placid’s Fourth of July celebration.

There is no charge for performances. The Young & Fun performance series is generously sponsored in part by Dr. David J. Balestrini at Lake Placid Family Dental.

The 2018 Young & Fun Performance Series continues with the following dates:

-July 11 — Tim Dumas Comedy & Magic. For over 20 years, Tim Dumas has been making children and adults laugh throughout the United States and Canada.

-July 18 – Jedi Academy. Children can learn the ways of the Jedi with Panniken Moonjumper, a true Master of Intergalactic fun and adventure. During this program, little Jedi Warriors, Princesses and Darth Vaders will feel empowered to discover the great Force within their hearts. Audiences are invited to enjoy comic antics, physical challenges, mayhem, light saber lessons and a visit from the space hero’s furry alien sidekick. Kids are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite “Star Wars” character.

-July 25 — Gary the Great. Back for another year, magician Gary the Great presents his high energy blast of magic, comedy, and storytelling. His performance gets everyone involved, with demonstrations of mentalism, close-up magic and stage illusions. Ever since presenting his first trick for kindergarten show-and-tell (and he still performs that trick), Gary has fallen in love with the theatricality of magic. As a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Gary has served as a magic consultant for national television commercials and New York theater companies.

-Aug. 1 — The Puppet People’s “The Wizard of Oz.” Join The Puppet People as they follow the yellow brick road to The Emerald City and beyond in the magical Land of Oz and bring to life this literary classic. See Dorothy, The Scarecrow, The Tinman and The Cowardly Lion learn about home, courage, heart and smarts! This puppet fantasy features marionettes, shadow puppets, rod puppets, a large parade puppet and more.

-Aug. 8 — Bubble Trouble. A bubble volcano. Bubble roller coaster. A kid in a bubble? Jeff Boyer takes bubbles to the max in this one-man bubble extravaganza. Jeff juggles bubbles, sculpts and builds with bubbles, makes fog-filled bubbles and more. He mixes comedy, music and a unique level of community participation.
