‘Out of the Woods’ at NorthWind

SARANAC LAKE – Anne Hughes’ natural compositions bring together a collection of Adirondack elements in beautiful and unexpected ways.

“To the artist who creates using only natural components, the Adirondack forest is a veritable treasure chest,” Hughes said. “For my show ‘Out of the Woods’ I’ve chosen one treasure, the Adirondack birch.”

She has created myriad works including wall hangings, sculptures, decorative accessories, and furniture.

Hughes, no stranger to the woods, “finds as many treasures hidden in the bark of birches as there are treasures in the whole of the Adirondack forest.”

Her show will be on display through the month of October at the NorthWind Arts Gallery with an opening from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6.

The event is free and the public is welcome. Refreshments will be served.

NorthWind Fine Arts is a cooperative gallery in the heart of the Adirondacks. The gallery is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is closed Tuesdays.
