LAKE PLACID – The New York City-based Keigwin + Company presents their electrifying brand of contemporary dance live on the LPCA Stage on Friday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets are available by calling the LPCA Box Office at 518-523-2512 or online at www.lakeplacidarts.org.

Keigwin + Company reaches national and international audiences and invigorates diverse communities with dance that embodies a theatrical sensibility of wit, style, and heart. Its education and community projects seek to physically engage audiences and aspiring dancers in movement and the choreographic process. Since Keigwin + Company’s premiere performance at Joyce Soho in 2003, Keigwin has created 35 dances, including the acclaimed large-scale community project Bolero, which has been commissioned in 12 communities nationwide; Runaway (2008), a fashion-inspired choreographic ride, and Canvas (2013). Over the past decade, Keigwin + Company has presented performances at venues including the Kennedy Center, Summerdance Santa Barbara, New York City Center, the Joyce Theater, American Dance Festival, the Bates Dance Festival, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Spain, and others. Most recently the company was invited by DanceMotion USA to travel and perform in Africa. The company will be also performed in Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, and Tunisia from February to March in 2017.

Keigwin + Company is committed to engaging individuals in movement and the creative process through community-based work and outreach, as well as education programs for aspiring dancers. Keigwin + Company invites community members with little to no dance experience into the creative process. The company’s “Let’s Make a Dance” workshop, based on artistic director Larry Keigwin’s collaborative style, guides participants of all ages, levels, and demographics through a choreographic process using games and guided improvisation. In the company’s education programs for young dancers, individuals are encouraged to discover their own creativity and authentic movement while fine-tuning technique under the guidance of the company’s highly skilled teachers.

Members of Keigwin + Company will be leading free dance workshops in the LPCA Dance Studio. A master class for beginners, ages 8 and up, will be held on Tuesday, September 12 from 4:15 to 5:15 PM.
