Affordable health care for all

To the editor:

Every resident of the North Country has the right to affordable, quality health insurance.

Working families will be impacted by the proposed Federal insurance cuts. Nearly two-thirds of Medicaid enrollees work. Many others are retired, disabled, attend school or cannot find a job. They cannot afford to lose their health insurance.

There will be an increased number of uninsured New Yorkers if the American Care Act (ACA) enhanced subsidies expire. An individual earning $28,000 a year could see their premiums jump from $325 to $1,582 a month. That is unsustainable.

The cuts will eventually affect everyone. Hospitals and nursing homes may close. Small businesses that help create jobs and are vibrant fixtures in our communities will have hard decisions to make.

Fortunately, we have Michael Cashman running this November for the New York State Assembly. He is an experienced leader and will work to make all our lives better. Send Michael Cashman to Albany to work for us to protect health care and fight against Medicaid cuts. He is the person for the job and has been endorsed by former assemblymembers Billy Jones and Janet Duprey.

Michael Cashman will make your voice heard in Albany. Please consider voting for Michael Cashman in November.
