Red Cross emergency preparedness classes in Saranac Lake

To the editor:

To our neighbors in the Tri-Lakes region,

Do you want to learn more about how you can be prepared in an emergency? Then the American Red Cross of Eastern New York invites you to our first-ever Family Preparedness Night on Friday, March 22 in Saranac Lake.

We will be hosting a variety of fun and educational programs for folks of all ages.

For children in pre-K to second grade, our “Prepare with Pedro” presentation follows Pedro the Penguin and his friends as they learn how to be prepared during an emergency. It’ll be located at the Algonquin Apartments Community Room.

For students in third to sixth grade, we will offer our “Pillowcase Project” at Harrietstown Hall in Saranac Lake, which covers local hazards, coping skills, and personal emergency preparedness through a “learn, practice, share” framework.

For adults, we will be offering “Be Red Cross Ready” at the Lake Flower Apartments Activity Room. Learn how to prepare for, and respond to disasters, that could occur in our community.

All programs are free for participants, so join us on Friday, March 22 from 4-6 p.m. at all participating locations for a night of fun, games and education. For more information, please email us at preparedness.eny@redcross.org.
