Not a no-show
To the editor:
I am attentive to the letters supporting candidates for District 7 as our Franklin County legislator. The letters have been encouraging and informative — that is, until Thursday, Oct. 24.
A town of Harrietstown council and Harrietstown Democratic Committee person accused a Donaldson of being a “no-show.” The Donaldsons have been an influential, hard-working family in the town of Harrietstown for well over a century.
They are legendary as employers, employees and community servants. I am certain that I am not the only voter who was offended by this crass accusation.
Clifford Donaldson is the antithesis of a “no show.” One need only recall his record as a Franklin County legislator and continuing public service. Cliff steps up as a nonpartisan public servant who has encouraged cooperation not only within Franklin County but also with our neighbors in Essex County.
That being said, Cliff is a “high road” candidate. He would not be pleased if I were to smear his opponent. Instead, I will wait until Election Day and experience how many friends and family of the Donaldsons choose to be “no-shows.”
Respectfully,
Bob Callaghan
