Great read about Mount Baker running
To the editor:
I loved Griffin Kelly’s column about his 6er run on Mount Baker. He took us along the trail with him. Very amusing.
It also makes me feel wistful for my youth. I was a runner from the fifth grade in North Syracuse through my 50s. As an adult, I would run 2-1/2 miles every morning, take a shower and go to work. When stressed or upset, I’d head for the middle school track and run till I tired. Getting older is OK, but we just can’t do what we once did when we were young. I have an artificial hip on one side. Got thrown by a horse. Can’t do that anymore, either. I can’t complain. I have lived a full life.
So kudos to Griffin and all the younger people who run, hike, bike, ski, etc. Enjoy every minute of it.
