Re-elect Franklin Co. Legislator Ellis

To the editor:

Lindy Ellis and Richard Shapiro have been my neighbors since they moved to Saranac Lake from Elmira/Corning over a decade ago. Lindy was an engineer at Corning Incorporated for 44 years and with her husband was drawn north to be closer to the outdoor activities they both love.

This enthusiasm is why Lindy has served for eight years on the Parks and Trails Advisory Board. One of her favorite park projects might well be the Skateboard Park. Funding, locating a safe venue and even landscaping the Skateboard Park are among some of the aspects of seeing the park to completion Lindy was involved in. This park has been a boon to many residents, whether as a place to socialize or to enjoy an easily accessible sport.

The Franklin County Traffic Safety Board is another eight-year term Lindy has served. Road safety concerns are critical to us all. Some of Lindy’s accomplishments include road and culvert rebuilding, and identifying roads requiring repair. Road salt contamination is another of Lindy’s concerns, as it should be for everyone lamenting its effect on our vehicles.

The Lake Clear airport links our area to the world beyond, and Lindy is advocating for the maintenance of the airport runway width.

Lindy Ellis comes by her good citizenship easily. Her parents were both U.S. Army veterans, and both of her grandfathers served in each of the World Wars. As Franklin County legislator there is no doubt she will continue that tradition.
