Lindy Ellis for Franklin County legislature

To the editor:

Lindy Ellis was an obvious choice as the appointee to complete the term of Barbara Rice on the Franklin County legislature and is the best choice to continue in 2019.

It was a choice of great service to the North Country. When Lindy Ellis moved to Saranac Lake as a full-time resident, she embraced our community, immediately beginning volunteer work in local projects. A testament to Lindy’s skills is that after retirement as a Corning corporation project director and process manufacturing expert, Corning has continued to contract with her to guide teams in strategies for developing new projects. These assignments take place both across the United States and in other countries. She is a consensus builder.

Lindy is an innovator as well, and a modest one. A community forum on the impact of heroin and opioid addiction was held at the Saranac Lake Free Library in May 2018. It was not acknowledged that Lindy was an initiator and the coordinator of the Adirondack Voters for Change committee that engaged with law enforcement and addiction provider groups that resulted in that forum and continuing activity in Franklin County on opioid problems.

Lindy’s local volunteer service has included the Saranac Lake SkatePark, the Parks and Trails Advisory Board and Homeward Bound Adirondacks board, and the Saranac Lake Local Development Corporation. In addition to her current term on the Franklin County legislature, Lindy has served the county in the Franklin County Industrial Development Agency and the Franklin County Traffic Safety Board.

She has served our civic needs well. Vote on Nov. 6 to keep her on the Franklin County legislature.
