SARANAC LAKE — This Thursday is the final Third Thursday ArtWalk of the season. The final Saranac Lake ArtMarket is this Saturday.

The hours of the upcoming ArtWalk are 5 to 7:30 p.m. It’s free for the public to participate.

ArtWalk maps will be available at participating art venues and the Saranac Lake Welcome Center at the Harrietstown Town Hall on Thursday. Artists of all genres — visual and performance artists — and all skill levels are encouraged to participate, mixing together throughout downtown, displaying or demonstrating their creative products.

At this week’s ArtWalk, actors from Pendragon Theatre’s production of “HITLER’S TASTERS” will perform a select scene from the show, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Berkeley Green. “HITLER’S TASTERS” will open at Pendragon Theatre this Wednesday and runs until Sunday. Live music will immediately follow the performance at Berkeley Green by Jason Hamilton, with an eclectic mix of covers and originals.

The art activities will continue into Friday and Saturday, too. Historic Saranac Lake will host an Art of the Cure Exhibit closing talk on Friday at 6 p.m. Chessie Monks-Kelly, archivist and curator, will talk about the history of occupational therapy in Saranac Lake and its use with tuberculosis patients. Monks-Kelly will highlight some of the artists and craftspeople featured in the exhibit and talk about the public response to the exhibit. This presentation will take place in person in the John Black Room of the Saranac Laboratory Museum, and masks are required for attendees.

Saranac Lake ArtWorks is hosting the Saranac Lake ArtMarket on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Riverfront Park near the Lake Flower Boat Launch. The ArtMarket was created out of a need for artists to showcase their talent during the pandemic. The event will have more than 25 artists participate in an open air market alongside the banks of Lake Flower. Live music will accompany the ArtMarket with Jeffrey Wanzer Dupra offering his talent as a singer-songwriter to the day’s activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

All artists or businesses interested in participating in the Third Thursday ArtWalks or the Saranac Lake ArtMarket can contact Patrick Murphy at 518-897-3217 or patrick@murphyminded.com.
