Upcoming events in Long Lake
LONG LAKE — The town of Long Lake has much to offer this weekend and next for both residents and visitors.
The Adirondack Canoe Classic race launches from Bissell’s Field Saturday, Sept. 7 at 8 a.m. The boat event (which welcomes canoes, kayaks and guide boats) is held on the historic “Highway of the Adirondacks.” The three-day, 90-mile, 275+ boat race begins in Old Forge and concludes at Lake Flower in Saranac Lake, passing through Long Lake on Saturday morning.
Then on Wednesday, Sept. 11, learn to paint oil landscape masterpieces. Join certified painting instructor Patti Tender for classes in Raquette Lake celebrating North Country painter Wilson Bickford’s technique. Tender will guide you through painting a wilderness landscape, start to finish. Discover how to mix oil paint, tips for fixing mistakes, and paint application techniques like blending and edge control. The cost for the class is $50 and includes all supplies. Lastly, Long Lake Centeral School alumi are invited to celebrate an all-inclusive town-wide class reunion Thursday, Sept. 12 through Sunday, Sept. 15. The event is open to all alumni from all graduating classes at LLCS. Activities planned include an alumni panel at LLCS, trivia night , dance with the Adirondack DJ, boat cruise, seaplane rides and a picnic at Mount Sabattis Pavilion.
