The Tune Tanglers at Will Rogers Saturday

SARANAC LAKE – Liz Stevens and Michael Gallagher will play various instruments and sing old time music, bluegrass and country at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 27 at Saranac Village at Will Rogers.

The North Valley Tune Tanglers tangled their first tunes upon meeting at a music and dance weekend in northern New Mexico in 1999. The pair brings together many years of experience with old time music.

Liz Stevens played fiddle and sang with a trio based in Banner Elk, North Carolina in the 1980’s. She honed her dance fiddling style around Denver, Colorado in the 1990s. Gallagher (guitar, five-string and tenor banjos, fiddle, button accordion) learned his musical skills playing around the mid-Atlantic states while living in Philadelphia. He has traveled widely in Mexico and is a founding member of the Sandia Hots, which recruited Liz as a fiddler.

The pair performs a light-hearted mix of tunes and songs from the early days of country music on fiddle, banjo or guitar. Each show includes Southwestern or Mexican pieces. They often end their performance with an old, familiar sing-a-long. They have played as the Tune Tanglers at art festivals, town concerts, ski lodges and retirement communities.

This program is open to the public and a $5 donation is requested. Refreshments will be served.
