Open-Minded Mic Night extended with tonight’s performances

SARANAC LAKE – BluSeed Studios at 24 Cedar Street in Saranac Lake brings residents and visitors a doubleheader of entertainment opportunities on Thursday, July 18.

In addition to the excitement of Third Thursday ArtWalks, BluSeed will be extending the evening by adding to its regularly scheduled Open-Minded Mic Night.

According to BluSeed Operations Director, Kathy Recchia, the monthly event was so popular that musicians and audiences requested it to continue through the summer.

“One performer had approached me about continuing Open Mic into the summer season and when I brought it up at the last Open Mic night in June the audience demonstratively concurred,” Recchia said. “So, we are giving it a try. Performance artist and musician Glenn Burnett will be entertaining at BluSeed for the ArtWalks portion of the evening and he will segue right into Open-Minded Mic Night. Then we will let the rest of the talent take over.”

In the past, Open-Minded Mic night has turned out singers, ukulele players, songwriters, spoken word artists, guitar and banjo players, and comedians, as far as BluSeed is concerned, anything goes.

The show at BluSeed starts at 7:30 p.m. but talent is invited to sign up at 7 p.m. and is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Performers are allotted seven minutes on stage. Admission is by donation (adults: suggested $5; $3 (students).

Door prizes and refreshments add to the festivities.
