Lake Placid High School winter concert

LAKE PLACID – The music department at Lake Placid High School will present a winter concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12 in the high school auditorium.

The community is invited to come and share an evening of seasonal music with performances by the High School Chorus, Band, Women’s Ensemble and Jazz Band.

The Lake Placid High School Chorus, under the direction of Kimberly Weems and accompanied by Kathryn Cross, will perform works by Praetorius, Rutter and Shaw.

The Chorus recently auditioned and received an invitation to perform at Walt Disney World in Orlando. They will travel from March 31 to April 4 with a performance in the park on April 3, 2019.

As a tribute to their upcoming performance, they will perform the Choral Suite from Disney’s “Frozen,” which consists of two Norwegian folk songs, Heimr Arnadalr and Vuelie.

The Lake Placid High School Concert Band, under the direction of Emileigh Kukuvka, will perform a selection of old an new seasonal favorites, including “Celtic Christmas” and “The North Star Overture.” The Band is preparing for its second appearance at NYMMA Major Organization Festival this spring.
