SARANAC LAKE – Roy Hurd and special guest Skip Smithson will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19 at Saranac Village at Will Rogers.

Songs performed are about life, love, family and living in the Adirondacks.

Hurd held a staff songwriting position in Nashville from 1990 to 2001, writing for two of the largest publishing companies in the world: SONY and Warner/Chappell Music.

He has had songs recorded by Paul Brandt, Jo Dee Messina, David Kersh, The Oak Ridge Boys, The Gibson Brothers and more. He has two Arts in Education programs he has developed for elementary schools.

His “Walk on the Mountain” storytelling, music and woodland skills program for children teaches earth morals and his “Rhyme without Reason” songwriting program aims at giving young people first-hand experience in the songwriting processes.

This program is open to the public and a $5 donation is requested. Refreshments will be served.
