LAKE PLACID – Monkey Junk will take the stage at Delta Blue Thursday, Aug. 17, with Mikey Junior performing Friday and Saturday, Aug. 18 and 19

All shows will be held from 9 p.m. to midnight.

In their relatively short 8 year existence, Ottawa, Canada-based MonkeyJunk has cultivated a unique blend of swamp roots rock. Their extensive touring has helped to develop a notable base of raving fans across Canada, the U.S. and Europe. Tony D plays lead guitar; Steve Marriner on vocals, baritone guitar and harmonica; Matt Sobb on drums and percussion.

Monkey Junk has been rewarded for their hard work with numerous coveted industry awards.

“The name MonkeyJunk comes from Son House, who once said ‘I’m talking about the blues, I ain’t talking ’bout no monkeyjunk.'” Monkey Junk has produced three albums, “Tiger In Your Tank” in 2009, “To Behold,” 2011, and “All Frequencies,” 2013.

For a musical style that has historically placed so much weight on linage, the passing of more and more of the old masters poses a dire question: What is the future of the blues and who will lead the charge?

Self-taught from his impressive collection of blues vinyl, Mikey was a full time musician before he even graduated from high school. Traveling South, Mikey’s new CD reveals a young blues artist telling stories people can relate to, while drawing listeners deep into the roots of blues music, via his mastery of the diatonic and chromatic harmonicas.
