Little, Green challenger Ruzbacki will debate

Longtime Republican state Sen. Betty Little and her sole challenger in the Green Party’s Steve Ruzbacki will debate this Friday at the studios of the Saratoga Springs-based Look TV television station. Both are seeking to represent the North Country in New York’s 45th Senate District.

The roundtable discussion between the two candidates will be taped as part of Look TV’s Beyond the Headlines Show and hosted by Look TV President Jesse Jackson, co-owner Antoinette Jackson said Friday. Jackson added that the 30-minute show will first be broadcast this weekend. Beyond The Headlines airs from 6:30 to 7 p.m. on Saturdays. Following broadcast, the debate can be viewed via stream at LOOK TV’s website, www.looktvonline.com.

Ruzbacki is a math and science teacher from Olmstedville and is in his first ever run for public office.

Little, R-Queensbury, and Ruzbacki’s debate at the LOOK TV studios will occur the same date as the debate for another state seat, that between Republican incumbent Dan Stec of Queensbury and Green Party challenger Robin Barkenhagen, an art gallery owner in Glens Falls.

Stec and Barkenhagen are scheduled to debate at 9 a.m. Thursday, and the closed-door debate will also be broadcast shortly thereafter at a time and date to be determined by the station. Stec and Barkenhagen’s debate will also be broadcast as part of the “Beyond the Headlines” show, but will be hosted by former Saratoga Springs Mayor Michael Lenz.

The debates will be broadcast on Time Warner Cable’s channel 68 in parts of Saratoga Springs and parts of Saratoga County and on channel 8 in Warren and Washington counties.

For people in Essex County who have Time Warner Cable, the best way to view the debates is to watch it online at www.looktvonline.com/beyond-the-headlines

“Beyond the Headlines” is normally broadcast from 8:30 to 9 a.m. on Sundays and from 6:30 to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Stec, Little, Barkenhagen and Ruzbacki also plan to attend the Friends of Thurman Town Hall Meet the Candidates Night at 7 p.m. Oct. 20.
