Great Adirondack Garage Sale expands this year

More than 200 miles of merchandise will be open for business Memorial Day weekend with the Great Adirondack Garage Sale.

The event will consist of more than 115 individual garage sales across 18 towns, villages and hamlets in five counties of the Adirondacks. It runs from Friday, May 27 through Sunday, May 29.

Items for sale range from vintage antiques and rustic furniture to jewelry and housewares, toys and clothing to restaurant equipment and sporting goods.

The event originated in Old Forge, grew north to Inlet, and eventually included Hamilton County. This year, it has expanded along routes 28, 30 and 3. The trail begins in Old Forge and Piseco, reaching up through Hamilton County plus a stretch into Newcomb. The route funnels through Tupper Lake, then out to Childwold and Cranberry Lake, and back up through Lake Clear and Paul Smiths to Malone.

“This has always been a hugely successful event, so we’re looking forward to seeing it expand,” said ROOST CEO James McKenna. “It’s a great way to build momentum for our upcoming summer season.”

“Expanding the route to more than 200 miles is exactly what our visitors have been asking for since we started this event, so we are thrilled that it’s expanding,” said Alex Roalsvig, Long Lake’s recreation and tourism director. “This year we’ll have more miles, more sales, and more opportunities to shop, and people are getting excited about the sales.

“At our local tourism offices, we’re making sure that we have plenty of places for visitors to find their own unique treasure.”

Each location holding a garage sale has chosen their own hours within those dates. For more information, visit www.greatadirondackgaragesale.com.
