LAKE PLACID — Disney’s “Miracle on Ice” movie was shown for free in January to a large crowd.

The movie was shown free of charge, courtesy of Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid and the Palace Theatre in Lake Placid.

This event was organized by Sarah Shea-Kane, community relations coordinator, who said more than 600 people attended, and Heather Clark from the Palace Theatre on the actual anniversary date of the historic win by the 1980 Mens Hockey team versus Russia.

Mayor Craig Randal was in attendance to welcome the crowd.

The organizers hope to make this into an annual event with additional activities.
