This month in Saranac Lake Rotary news …

Shane Ash reveals a bit of the man known as “Hawkeye” locally, John W. Hawkinson, (who passed away in 2016) in his presentation to Rotary Club members. Although some in the room had a passing acquaintance with the man who drove antique vehicles, most really didn't know what he considered valuable (something well-made) or that among his greatest treasures were the letters sent to him by his mother. The Rotary Club of Saranac Lake meets each Tuesday at the Left Bank Cafe at 7:20 a.m. (Photo provided)
The Rotary Club of Saranac Lake participated in the centennial celebration of the New York State Troopers by serving cotton candy and sno cones with all proceeds benefiting their K-9 unit. Troop B, the “Black Horse Troop” is the northernmost and biggest geographically of the New York troops. Flanked on either side by Troopers and their dogs are Rotarians Sharon Tabor, Bill Plumb, Hannah Hanford and Jordanna Mallach. (Photo provided)
