Biathlon heads to Lake Placid for first-ever IBU Cup

LAKE PLACID — World-class biathlon returns to Mount Van Hoevenberg this week as Lake Placid hosts its first-ever International Biathlon Union (IBU) Cup events, Thursday to Sunday, March 1 and March 4 to 7.

Taking place immediately following the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games, the competitions will feature many of the sport’s top emerging athletes and serve as the final two stops of the 2025-26 IBU Cup season. Lake Placid is the only IBU Cup venue outside of Europe this season.

Members of the U.S. Olympic Biathlon Team regularly compete on the IBU Cup circuit and are expected to take part in the Lake Placid events.

Thursday, Feb. 26

10:30 a.m. — Men’s 15K short individual

2:20 p.m. — Women’s 12.5K short individual

Friday, Feb. 28

10:45 a.m.– Men’s 10K sprint competition

2:30 p.m. — Women’s 7.5K sprint competition

Saturday, March 1

10:45 a.m. — Men’s 12.5K pursuit competition

1:30 p.m. — Women’s 10K pursuit competition

Wednesday, March 4

10:45 a.m. — Men’s and women’s 46 mixed relay

2:00 p.m. — Men’s and women’s single mixed relay

Friday, March 6

10:45 a.m. — Women’s 7.5K sprint competition

2:15 p.m. — Men’s 10K sprint competition

Saturday, March 7

10:45 a.m. — Women’s 12.5K mass start 60

1:30 p.m. — Men’s 15K mass start 60
