Storm hoops win again, Bombers fall

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake boys basketball defeated the Northeastern Clinton Cougars 60-28 on Friday evening in a rematch of last season’s Section VII, Class B championship game.

The Red Storm, which ranks 16th in the state for Class B boys basketball, according to the latest New York State Sports Writers Association poll, led from start to finish.

The team’s three senior guards — Cedar Crist, Mik Denkenberger and Zack McCarthy — led the way, to help Saranac Lake improve to 8-1 overall and 5-0 in league play.

The Red Storm will next take on the AuSable Valley Patriots in a league contest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Clintonville.

Bolton 62, Lake Placid 29

The Lake Placid boys basketball team suffered a 62-29 home loss to the Bolton Eagles on Friday evening.

The state-ranked Eagles jumped out a 40-7 lead at halftime and held on for the remainder of the contest to improve to 8-1 overall. Liam Foy led Bolton with 21 points.

Max Perez and Josh Hobday led the Blue Bombers with 10 points each. Lake Placid dropped to 2-7 overall.

Lake Placid will host the Boquet Valley Griffins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
