Red Storm hoopers stay undefeated with win
SARANAC LAKE — In a battle of two state-ranked teams Tuesday evening, the Saranac Lake boys basketball team came out on top, defeating the Canton Golden Bears 53-46 on the road.
With the win, the Red Storm — which ranks 15th in the state for Class B boys basketball, according to the latest New York State Sports Writers Association poll — improved to 5-0 overall. Canton, which is ranked 10th, dropped to 2-2 overall.
Saranac Lake was led by senior Cedar Crist, who scored 17 points, while fellow seniors Zack McCarthy added 15 points and Mik Denkenberger chipped in with 13.
Up next, the Red Storm will compete in the Canton Holiday Tournament, where they will take on Madrid-Waddington in the opening round of the tournament on Saturday. The team will also play on Sunday.
Saranac Lake’s next home game is set for Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. against the Moriah Vikings.
