Peru volleyball narrowly beats Storm
SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake volleyball team suffered only its third loss of the season on Thursday, falling 3-2 to the Peru Nighthawks. The host Nighthawks won by scores of 25-12, 23-25, 25-18, 20-25 and 16-14.
Sophie Czadzeck paced the Red Storm with a double-double, recording 16 assists and 12 points. Czadzeck also chipped in with six kills, three digs, two blocks and one ace. Teammate Rori Chenaille-Schenk also had a strong outing, recording 12 points, eight digs and two aces.
Lexie Donaldson led Saranac Lake defensively with 12 digs. Donaldson also added nine points, three assists, three kills and two aces.
Up next, the Red Storm, which dropped to 7-3 overall, will host the AuSable Valley Patriots at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Saranac Lake topped the Patriots 3-0 in their lone match earlier this season on Sept. 9.
