LAKE PLACID — After dropping its first match in nearly a month last week, the Lake Placid girls soccer team returned to its dominant form on Tuesday evening, topping the Indian Lake/Long Lake Orange 5-1 in their final home game of the regular season.
Kendra Levitt scored twice and had two assists for the Blue Bombers. Teammate Ella Moodey added a pair of goals, and Eliza Fitzsimmons also scored. Addy Colby, Danna Perez and Gloria Ford each chipped in with an assist.
The Lake Placid squad, which ranks 16th in the state, according to the latest New York State Sports Writers Association poll, improved to 9-5-1 overall. The team has won eight of its last 10 games and outscored its opponents 22-7 during this stretch.
On Tuesday, the Blue Bombers got off to a hot start with Moodey netting back-to-back goals in the opening half to take a 2-0 lead at the intermission.
After the break, Levitt and Fitzsimmons quickly found the back of the net, scoring less than 11 minutes into the half. Levitt closed out the scoring with a long-range kick, following a pass from Ford.

“The team created some great scoring opportunities,” Blue Bombers’ head coach Heather Brewer said. “Ella Moodey and Kendra Levitt were a strong offensive force and Eliza Fitzsimmons got in on the action with a great far post run to finish off a Levitt cross.”
The Orange’s Alaina Travis scored her team’s lone goal with less than two minutes remaining in the second half to prevent the shutout.
Lake Placid finished with an 18-10 advantage in shots as the Blue Bombers’ goalie, Emma Clark, had nine saves. Indian Lake/Long Lake’s Daphne Seaman had 10.
While the Lake Placid girls soccer team has been solid this season, the squad has just one senior, Perez. Brewer said it was nice to get a victory for her on Senior Day.
“She’s been a strong player in the midfield for us,” Brewer said.

The Blue Bombers will close out the regular season at 6:30 p.m. on the road today against Saranac Lake. Lake Placid previously topped the Red Storm 3-2 in the lone matchup between the two squads on Sept. 24.
