LAKE PLACID — Tickets are on sale for the International Ski and Snowboard Ski Jumping World Cup returning to the Olympic Jumping Complex on Dec. 12 to 14.

The event will bring together the world’s top male and female ski jumpers for three days of competition on the HS128 large hill, with individual events and a mixed team competition.

Women’s World Cup ski jumping made its U.S. debut in February last season on the same hill in Lake Placid. The event made further history when a grassroots effort made it possible to award equal prize money for the women’s jumpers, marking a significant step toward gender equality in professional ski jumping.

Lake Placid is the only North American stop of the 2025-2026 World Cup season that will take a break during the Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games from Feb. 6 to 22 (ski jumping, Feb. 9 to 16) in Italy. This marks the fourth consecutive season that Lake Placid has hosted an FIS Ski Jumping World Cup. The men’s tour returned to the Olympic Jumping Complex in Lake Placid in 2023 after a 33-year hiatus and again in 2024, before the historic World Cup in February 2025 that included women.

“As we look toward the Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games, Lake Placid is once again playing a pivotal role in preparing athletes for the world stage,” said state Olympic Regional Development Authority’s Vice President of Sport, Rebecca Dayton. “We’re proud to be the only North American stop on the tour and to continue championing opportunities for women in ski jumping.”

Olympic qualifier

The FIS Ski Jumping World Cup event in Lake Placid is an important stop on the road to the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games as jumpers compete for valuable points toward Olympic qualification ahead of the Jan. 18, 2026 deadline.

Contested at the Predazzo Ski Jumping Stadium in northern Italy, the 2026 Games will include equal gender participation for the first time, with 50 men and 50 women competing in six total events. The program will include the Olympic debut of the women’s large hill and men’s super team, as well as other men’s and women’s individual events.

February highlights

Nika Prevc of Slovenia put on a show in Lake Placid in February as a 19-year-old, sweeping the two individual women’s events. Prevc has already established herself as one of the most successful women’s ski jumpers of all time with two overall World Cup titles (2024 and 2025), three FIS Nordic Junior World Championships and 22 individual World Cup victories. Eirin Maria Kvandal of Norway earned both of the women’s Qualification Round checks.

Norway’s Johann Andre Forfang and Daniel Tschofenig, the 2025 overall World Cup points champion from Austria, each captured individual men’s titles in Lake Placid. Lake Placid native Tate Frantz delighted the home crowd with a seventh-place finish in the opening Qualification Round, while Domen Prevc, Nika’s brother, won the second Qualification.

Germany won the mixed team title in Lake Placid, with the U.S. team of Frantz, Josie Johnson, Annika Belshaw and Kevin Bickner placing fifth. The mixed team event consists of two men and two women per team.
