SARANAC LAKE — The Willard Hanmer Guideboat and Canoe Race announced on Tuesday the final results from Sunday’s race.

The iconic event began in 1963 to pay homage to the famous Saranac Lake guideboat builder Willard J. Hanmer, and keep the uniquely Adirondack guideboat legacy alive. Co-organized by mother-daughter duo Sue and Kathy Dyer, with a legion of dedicated volunteers helping with timing, registration, course safety and other logistical support, the event featured a variety of boat classes.

This year, the Saranac Lake Kiwanis Club sponsored all junior-class paddlers, making the race free for those 16 and under. The youngest participant this year was 3-year-old Emmett Wolf. For more about this year’s race and to see more photos, visit tinyurl.com/4j95z2m6.
