LAKE PLACID — U.S. Figure Skating today announced 2025 Skate America will be held in Lake Placid from Nov. 14 to 16, along with the calendar of U.S. qualifying competitions and international events for the 2025-26 season.
Traditionally the first stop in the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, Skate America will be the fifth of six stops next season. Top skaters from the United States and around the world will compete at the three-day competition in women’s, men’s, pairs and ice dance. The full list of invited athletes will be announced in early June.
Returning to the historic 1980 Herb Brooks Arena, this marks the sixth time Skate America will be held in Lake Placid and the first since 2017. This is also the third time Skate America will take place in Lake Placid in an Olympic season. The inaugural Skate America was held in Lake Placid in 1979.
“We are so excited that Skate America is returning to the place where it began,” said Sam Auxier, president of U.S. Figure Skating. “Lake Placid is an iconic destination and the home of legendary winter sports moments. It is also so closely tied to figure skating history in the United States that it was a natural choice to host this major international event.”
U.S. Figure Skating will work in collaboration with the state Olympic Regional Development Authority to host the event.
“The Olympic Regional Development Authority is excited to welcome back Skate America this November,” stated Chadd Cassidy, VP of operations at Lake Placid Legacy Sites. “Lake Placid, the Olympic Center and Skate America have a long history, and this event will be a great lead into the Olympic Winter Games in Italy.”
