Saranac Lake golfers top Vikings

SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake golf team wrapped up its final home match of the season with a 5-1 victory over the Moriah Vikings on Tuesday afternoon at the Saranac Lake Golf Club.

Moriah’s Silas Reeder was the medalist of the match, carding a 38 in the No. 1 spot to earn a win over Saranac Lake’s Ryan McGinnis-Theis, who shot a team-low 42.

However, the Red Storm picked up wins from its next five golfers to earn the win. Jonah Peckham shot a 48 to beat the Vikings’ Chris Demarais, who carded a 57 from the No. 2 position. Carson St. Louis shot a 43 in the No. 3 position to top Moriah’s Jaden Mero, who carded a 56, while the Red Storm’s Cooper Patnode turned in a score of 53 from the No. 4 position, besting Hayden Lobdell, who shot a 69.

David Rascoe, who shot a 47, and Brice Heery, who carded a 45, secured victories for Saranac Lake by forfeit in the No. 5 and 6 matches. Moriah had just four golfers on Tuesday.

Up next, the Red Storm will close out the regular season at 3:30 p.m. today on the road against the Saranac Central Spartans. The team will then compete at sectionals next week.
