Leila Fey and Kai McKinnon led the pack for the Blue Bombers with a second- and third-place finish, respectively, in a race that featured 103 runners.

Fey finished in a time of 19 minutes, 52.3 seconds, while McKinnon followed behind in 20:18.9. Pine Plains’ Violet Bliss was the lone runner ahead of them, crossing the finish line in 18:31.6.

The Blue Bombers girls won the invitational with 46 points, edging out Marymount School (86) and Oakfield-Alabama (91). The girls Division I race had 12 different schools.

Lake Placid’s Maya Garrison (20:55.2) and Norah Francis (21:39.5) placed 11th and 19th overall, respectively. It was the second time this season that the Blue Bomber girls won an invitational meet. The squad won the McQuaid Invitational in September.

Holly Erenstone finished 29th overall for Lake Placid in 22:22.3. Jenna Fay was close behind in 32nd overall in 22:41.4. Rose Wenzler (27:56.5) rounded the day for the team in 77th.

The Blue Bomber boys placed sixth out of 15 teams in their race. Lake Placid earned 166 points, while Oakfield-Alabama won the team race 84 points. Galway (115) earned second and AuSable Valley (121) was third.

Aidan Fay was the top Blue Bomber finisher, placing third overall in 16:50.0. Pine Plains runners Daniel McPherson (15:43.4) was first, followed by teammate Maxwell Decker (15:43.7).

Along with Aidan Fay, the Blue Bombers had four other runners finish within 20 minutes. Colin Francis (17:31.3) was 12th; Graham Scull (19:16.7) was 43rd; Connor Mannion (19:54.2) was 60th; and Jesse Carlson (19:58.5) was 63rd.

Lake Placid was rounded out by Jim Guglielmi (20:36.2) in 86th; Nicholas O’Brien (20:58.1) in 95th; Robert Bowen (22:40.4) in 113th; and Calvin Branchaud (25:36.2) in 129th. There were 135 runners competing in the race.

Saranac Lake also had a strong showing in Division II. The girls placed fifth out of 16 teams, and the boys placed sixth out of 20 teams.

Cadence Kennedy was the Red Storm girls top finisher, placing 15th overall in 21:19.6. Teammate Asa Bruno cracked the top 25 with a 22nd overall in 21:49.4. Saranac Lake also had solid finishes from Lizzie Harvey (22:58.2) in 41st and Lila Zobel (23:09.5) in 46th.

Voorheesville’s Avery Grant (18:44.7) and Savannah Schmidt (18:50.9) finished in first and second, respectively. Peru’s Maddy Welc (19:19.9) was third overall in the race that had 131 competitors.

Saranac Lake’s other girls finishers were Rachel Rozon (24:20.5) in 71st; Lauryn Caldwell (24:27.1) in 72nd; and Zoe Carpenter (24:41.2) in 74th.

Voorheesvile won the division II race with 60 points, followed by Ichabod Crane with 97 and James I. O’Neill with 130. The Red Storm girls placed fifth out of 16 teams with 170 points.

Jake Kollmer led Saranac Lake’s boys with his sixth-place finish in 16:27.3. Anthony Zazzaro won the race in 15:35.1, while Schalmont’s Carter Flowers (15:58.0) and Voorheesville’s Mason Curl (16:00.2) rounded out the podium in a race that featured 164 athletes.

Emmett VanBuskirk finished next for the Red Storm in 34th overall in 17:53.6. Ebin Meissner was next in 40th overall in 18:07.8. Keaton Daley finished 45th overall in 18:12.0, while Liam Fletcher (18:14.2) was 46th to close out the scoring.

Saranac Lake’s boys were sixth overall with 166 points. Oneonta High School was first with 60 points, Canton was second with 111 and Fonda-Fultonville was third with 135.

The Red Storm were rounded out by Alex Evans (18:36.1) in 60th; Jonah Seleni (19:36.6) in 85th; Colin Glascock (21:33.6) in 119th; and Wyatt Laymon (22:26.9) in 131st.
