Bagnato wins 1.40m Speed Challenge
LAKE PLACID — Mia Bagnato rode Florida N to victory in the Hampton Inn 1.40m Speed Challenge, Thursday’s featured class at the I Love New York Horse Show, the second week of the 55th annual Lake Placid Horse Shows.
Featuring a full, two-week schedule with more than $540,000 in prize money, the Lake Placid Horse Shows continue through Sunday at the North Elba Show Grounds.
In the Hampton Inn 1.40m Speed Challenge, Bagnato was one of two entries to ride clean over the one-round course designed by Nick Granat. Bagnato also placed fifth with a four-fault ride on Cordiamo.
In the 1.30m Open Speed Class, Schuyler Riley took the win on Garance de Vains, turning in the fastest of the three clean rides. Riley finished in 71.758 seconds to beat Hayley Alcock, who finished clean in 74.301 seconds on Joule, and Caitlin Venezia White, who came home clean in 74.400 seconds on Quico VD Brouwershoeve. Riley also placed fourth with the fastest four-fault ride on Booster 13.
Each show day, LPHS action starts at 8 a.m., with classes running simultaneously in four spectacular show rings — the Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix Field, the E.R. Mische Jumper Ring, the Main Hunter Ring and the Hunter Ring.
The I Love New York Horse Show is highlighted by the $75,000 Richard M. Feldman Grand Prix at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 7. Prior to the Grand Prix is the highly popular Doggie Costume Contest Sponsored.
